Meet Marty Davin
I was a NYPD Detective for 20 years, working on assignments like the Bronx Narcotics Division and the Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force. When I retired from this in 2004, I moved on to the Bronx District Attorney’s Office as a Senior Investigator in the Investigations Bureau. There I worked on cases involving financial crimes as well those of the political nature.
I’ve been married for 17 years, and have 2 teenage daughters and a step daughter. I’ve been with the Absolute Software Theft Recovery Team since 2008.
Quickest Recovery
My most timely recovery was one in Pennsylvania – about an hour and a half after I made contact with the Detective, he was at the residence and had recovered the stolen laptop. All in a day’s work…or more like a lunch hour, in this case!
Most Memorable Recovery
Hmm…there have been quite of few that have had an impact on me; stolen laptops have led us to all sorts of hardened and many times dangerous career criminals. But if I was going to pick one of the more light-hearted recoveries – we received a theft report from a guy who was claiming his work laptop had been stolen, and so in the interim, the school that he worked at had issued him another machine. After I tracked the stolen laptop for a while, it became painfully obvious that our suspect was the very guy that reported the theft in the first place. And worse – turns out this guy was also the school’s psychologist! He was utilizing the stolen laptop from his residence. Needless to say, Absolute gave police the info they needed to arrest the man, who ended up losing his job on account of his dishonesty.

Even though I recently purchased Lojack for laptops I am afraid to leave this one at home. I had a brand new Toshiba laptop stolen on the 18th of June 2011. I had no idea Lojack even existed so I had nothing on the Toshiba. I am making payments on the Toshiba to rent a center. Even though it was stolen I still have to pay for it. I think every laptop should come equiped with GPS or some sort of tracking device.
This is the second laptop for which I have purchased LoJack. Seems weird to think it but I almost wish someone would swipe one so I could watch Marty in action. Gaaaaa! What am I saying? Glad you’re there Marty
