I have a question. I am looking for a used laptop on ebay or craigslist and am worried about purchasing a stolen laptop. My car has been broken into twice in 6 months so I know how bad it is, and don’t want any cent of my money to reward a thief.. not to mention if it is stolen and the police come to my house to arrest me…
How can I make ABSOLUTLY sure, that any laptop I purchase is not now, or never will be sent to police as stolen?
Can I get something like a guarantee from Absolute software that the “official” ownership of a spacific laptop has been transfered to me? or is available to be transfered to me? If I get a bill of sale from the thief I have no idea if he or she truely owns it.. and I am left with my new (used) laptop taken and a nastly encounter with the police, not to mention that the thief still gets the money… so the true owner and I both suffer for no good reason.
I just want to know if I can check a specific laptop that I am considering to purchase is truely available to be purchased from the true owner and not a thief that has stolen it…
    Thank You,
    Calvin E. Thomas
